Beyond the Funding: The People Behind Rural Health Transformation
🌾 Rural Care Journey started as a way to make sense of a very complicated rural-health funding landscape.
Today, it reflects:
📍 723 consolidated public opportunities
🏥 16,700+ healthcare entities
🤝 791 vendors
💰 Nearly $1B in currently open or closing funding
🇺🇸 Coverage across all 50 states + federal activity
But the biggest lesson has not been about the numbers.
It has been about the people behind them.
👩⚕️ Clinicians trying to extend care
🚑 EMS teams building new models
🧑🏫 Educators strengthening local workforce
💻 Technology companies solving very specific problems
📝 Applicants trying to turn ideas into real programs
🤝 Community partners figuring out how their pieces can work together
The more people I meet, the more convinced I become that rural health transformation will depend on more than funding or technology.
It will depend on local capacity, trust, and relationships that continue after the funding ends.
I shared a longer reflection — and what I hope Rural Care Journey can become — in the RCJ Community:
