For months, the challenge was finding information: state plans, RFAs, RFPs, deadlines, vendors, awards, amendments, and implementation guidance.

Now the bigger question is:

How do the people doing the work learn from one another?

A rural hospital in one state may be facing the same problem as a provider somewhere else. A vendor may already know how to avoid an implementation mistake. A consultant may recognize a procurement issue an applicant has not seen. A community organization may be looking for exactly the partner already working elsewhere in the RHTP ecosystem.

Those conversations should not have to happen only through private emails, LinkedIn messages, or one-off introductions.

From information to implementation

Rural Care Journey helps people find RHTP opportunities, vendors, state activity, documents, awards, and implementation signals.

But information alone does not implement a project.

Implementation requires questions like:

• Has anyone interpreted this requirement differently?
• Is anyone else pursuing this opportunity?
• Who has experience implementing this type of solution?
• What should we consider before selecting a vendor?
• What worked in another state?
• Is anyone looking for a partner?

The goal is not confidential or restricted information. It is a more useful environment for people actively working in rural health transformation.

Why community matters now

RHTP is highly decentralized.

States are implementing differently. Funding models vary. Procurement varies. Eligibility varies. Timelines vary.

That makes peer knowledge unusually valuable.

A solicitation tells you what the state published.

A community can help you understand how others are interpreting it.

A vendor directory tells you who provides a service.

A community can show you who is actually helping solve problems.

An opportunity page tells you what funding is available.

A collaboration discussion may help you build the team needed to pursue it.

That is the next layer we want RCJ to build.

🏆 RCJ Community Launch Challenge

To help get the conversation started, we are launching a 4-week Community Challenge from August 22 through September 19, 2026.

We will recognize 10 of the most helpful community contributions with 3 months of RCJ Pro access.

Winners will include:

Both posts and substantive replies are eligible.

And one important rule:

You do not need to post frequently. One genuinely useful contribution can win.

We also want to recognize useful conversations while the challenge is happening.

Every Friday, RCJ will highlight 2–3 Community conversations through the Community homepage and LinkedIn.

There is no additional prize. The goal is simply to make helpful discussions easier to discover.

What we hope to see

Success is not measured by the number of posts.

We want conversations like:

“How are others interpreting this sustainability requirement?”

“We implemented something similar last year. Here are three things we wish we had known.”

“We can cover the clinical component, but we need a technology partner.”

“This requirement may affect your budget assumptions. Here is what to watch.”

“Here are five questions applicants should ask any vendor before choosing a solution.”

Those are the conversations that can make the entire RHTP ecosystem work better.

Rural organizations often have fewer staff, less procurement capacity, and less time to independently research every issue.

If one organization learns something useful, others should be able to benefit from it too.

That is what we want the RCJ Community to become.
